Mopping
BASIC TASK

What you need:
- A flat mop with removable clean cloth (at least 1 clean cloth per house)
- Floor cleaning product (recommended: Earth Choice Floor & Surface Cleaner or Methylated Spirits for glossy floors)
IMPORTANT
If the surface is natural stone (granite, marble, cesar stone) use only hot water or hot water + soap (sugar soap, dishwashing liquid, Earth Choice). Don't use Jif, Methylated spirits or any other chemical on any of these surfaces. If you're not sure if it's natural stone or not, use only hot water + soap to be safe.
Cleaning process:
- Vacuum all floors
- Wet the removable cloth in hot water and squeeze it
- Install the mop cloth on the mop
- Fill the mop container with hot water and a bit of cleaning product
- Start mopping from the area you won’t need to walk on again
- If mopping wood, mop along the wood pattern
- If mopping tiles, put more pressure on the mop
- Wait until the floor dries
- Check if you haven’t left water marks (especially on glossy surfaces)
- If there are water marks, mop again with drier mop
- Check again from various angles if there are no marks
Tps:
- You can only do good mopping if the floor is vacuumed well.
- Avoid leaving sticky floors – don’t use too much cleaning product – mainly hot water
- If you are not sure what product to use for some special kind of floor – use hot water only
- Squeeze the mop pad well – avoid leaving water marks
- If the floor is too wet - mop it again with a dry cloth
- Some floors areas require manual scrubbing with a sponge – for example food leftovers in the kitchen. After that the areas need to be mopped.
- If mop doesn’t reach some areas – use a damp microfibre cloth – for example: narrow places between furniture, corners.
